per administration
A human trial worked out how much to take and how often, so a dosing schedule is shown.
Licensed as a medicine in the US and EU.

Published research contexts for Calcitonin describe 8–17 mcg per administration. Descriptive only, not a recommendation.
Roughly an hour for salmon calcitonin after a subcutaneous dose; published estimates vary.
Salmon calcitonin, a 32-amino-acid peptide hormone, licensed as a medicine in the US and EU and supplied both as a subcutaneous or intramuscular injection and as a nasal spray. Dosing is written conventionally in international units — about 50–100 IU (roughly 8–17 mcg by mass) per subcutaneous dose. The schedule below is the injectable route; the nasal form uses a different amount, about 200 IU per day.

Where these numbers come from
- Salmon calcitonin injectable (Miacalcin) — licensed scheduleCarries a marketing authorization in the US and EU; the injectable schedule is about 50–100 IU (roughly 8–17 mcg) given subcutaneously, dosed in international units.
- Chesnut CH et al., Am J Med 2000;109:267 (PROOF)A five-year randomized study of salmon calcitonin with fracture endpoints; it used the intranasal 200 IU spray, so it shares the molecule but not the subcutaneous route shown here.
